And really, I've got my Ionic working properly, except for this dang Weather app, which has always been 100% unresponsive. I'm frankly quite happy with my Charge 2, but it just leaves a bit to be desired as a "watch" - if nothing else, just having the same functionality with a watch face that I can easily and reliably read will make the Ionic worth the price, to me. I have tried other brands, but just take "sleep tracking" as an example - I sure haven't found anything else that's even in the ballpark that Fitbit plays in. I am a heart attack and triple-bypass heart surgery survivor with Type 2 diabetes, and I have been recording my daily progress with Fitbit devices and other information on a very detailed spreadsheet for many, many years. Where on Earth is the "Oh, you have to go out, turn the GPS on, and let that sync with your Ionic first," and so on? But I've been in forums like this for over 30 years, and groups of people like this have always managed to figure just about anything out.īut what anyone needs to comprehend about Fitbit is how a lot of its users truly need their devices. All of the suggestions people have offered about the Weather app is a very good example of how Fitbit just doesn't offer hardly any proper documentation at all. If it just simply worked easily as it should have, it would have been ok, but obviously people are going a long way to figure out how to get things to work. I certainly am critical of Fitbit for providing insanely little in the way of documentation, and even hiding the full user manual on its web site with a link to it utterly buried at the very bottom of its "How to use" document. Yes, the Ionic in several ways just doesn't work very well, though I've been in this forum as people first started getting their hands on it, and I was aware that people were having plenty of difficulties before I decided to head out to Best Buy and join the misery, myself. Well, I am a very literate computer user, going back to my first home computer in the days of iOS and then the early days of Windows. I spent 3 days fighting my surge before I took it back to the store. I would never fight an expensive watch this much, for 300 bucks plus tax you shouldn't have to. you're like a pitbull with this watch and all the road blocks it's given youīut I have to wonder, at this stage of it's release is it really worth all this time and stress? You can always return the watch and just wait a while for them to (hopefully) iron the bugs out. Trust me, if I could simply uninstall it and reinstall it, I would have done that about twenty hours ago, rather than spending those hours beating my head against a virtual brick wall. The Weather app has no such thing - it has a "grayed out" button that says "Installed." There is no way to uninstall it, which is what I've been saying all along. Yes, Strava has an "Install" button that becomes an "Uninstall" button once you install it. I really don't want to go through that, if it's not likely to work, or if the app is actually quite lame, and not worth the effort to begin with. Thanks in advance for letting me know how it works, because I really dread going through the factory reset routine, because I went through a nightmare to get my Ionic set up to begin with. If it only syncs once per hour or less frequent, then I'm not so sure it would be worth the effort.Īnd so on. Mainly, I'm wondering if you can pop into the Weather app, and halfway reliably see what the local temperature is outdoors. Is that correct, or might it only sync with whatever Wi-Fi connection you used to set the Ionic up with, to begin with? And if it does sync via Bluetooth on your phone, how often does it sync? Is the frequency something you can set? How and when does it sync? I presume it syncs with your phone, and presumably via Bluetooth. And could you also describe how it works? I have the following questions: So, does anyone have it working properly? I would like to know if it actually works halfway well, before I destroy everything else that I've got working. My Weather app is as dead as a piece of software can be dead. I have tried everything short of that, and it simply, utterly will not work when I try to input a city name, and it will not work with my phone's current location. Ok, I have tried everything, short of totally "burning down the house" - doing a factory reset with the Ionic, deleting it from my Fitbit account, uninstalling every instance of the Fitbit software, and then hoping that it might magically make the Weather app work if I start everything from scratch.
